The Trifid Nebula
Object: M20 (NGC6514)
The Trifid Nebula - Emission Nebula
Const.: Sagittarius
Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Tele Vue NP127 Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): L:R:G:B Exposure: 8x8m:4x8m:4x8m:4x8m blank
M20, the Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius. This image is a stack of 8 eight minute exposures for the luminance channel and 4 eight minute exposures for the red, green and blue filtered channels. An SXV-H9 CCD camera on a Tele Vue NP127 5" f/5.2 refractor was used to acquire the images. The exposures were calibrated, defect-corrected and stacked using AIP4WIN V2. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1345x1021. Click on it to see a full size image.

Const.: Sagittarius
Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Vixen R200SS Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): IR block Exposure: 20x60s TeleVue Paracorr
M20, the Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius. This image is a stack of 20 one minute exposures using an SXV-H9 CCD camera on a Vixen R200SS 8" f/4 Newtonian equipped with a Paracorr. The exposures were calibrated, defect-corrected and stacked using AIP4WIN. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1392x1040. Click on it to see a full size image.

The Trifid Nebula
Object: M20 (NGC6514)
The Trifid Nebula - Emission Nebula
Const.: Sagittarius
Camera: HX916 Scope: AP130 Mount: AP1200GTO
Filter(s): L:R:G:B Exposure: 16x30s:8x30s:8x30s:8x30s Color channels binned 2x2
M20, the Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius. This color image was created from an 8 minute luminance image stack and 4 minute red, green and blue image stacks. The luminance channel was taken using 1x1 binning, while each color channel was acquired using 2x2 binning. The images were combined and balanced automatically using AIP4WIN's automated color tools, using the Equalize Color option. All images were taken using a 5" f/6 refractor. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1174x930. Click on it to see a full size image.

Object: M20 (NGC6514)
The Trifid Nebula - Emission Nebula
Const.: Sagittarius
Camera: SXV-H9 Scope: Vixen R200SS Mount: Losmandy Titan
Filter(s): Exposure: 8x8m TeleVue Paracorr
The Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius. This image is a stack of 8 eight minute exposures shot through a Hydrogen-alpha filter. The exposures were acquired using an SXV-H9 CCD camera on a Vixen R200SS 8" f/4 Newtonian equipped with a Paracorr. The exposures were calibrated, defect-corrected and stacked using AIP4WIN. A few new experimental tools were applied to enhance the structure. This image has been resampled down from its original size of 1392x1040.
